My graduate collection aims to reimagine modesty and explores prototypical designs that echo self-altered clothing, a visual protest against dictating trends which overlook individuality. Distinctive but unassuming, the collection is subtly nostalgic, while gaining a modern feel through silhouette, colour and fabric. Harmony is achieved by balancing earthy tones in luxurious textured silks, paired with a crisp white cotton for a fresh and artisanal mood. Long and loose outlines are discretely shaped through folding, dividing the body vertically to exaggerate its length. I have been a finalist in the “Topshop Graduate Design Competition” and “Warehouse Graduate Design Competition”, and my graduate work has received the “Fashion and Textiles Departmental Prize for Best Overall Grade”.
